21.01.2025 Members of the Valga municipality government and council discussed the planning of the wind farm with state representatives.

On 20 January 2025, a meeting of the Valga municipality government and the members of the council with representatives of the Ministry of Climate Change and the Land and Spatial Planning Agency took place in Valga Town Hall. The aim of the meeting was to discuss renewable energy in Estonia and the specific planning of the wind farm in Valga municipality. Karlis Goldstein, Head of the Renewable Energy Sector of the Energy Department of the Ministry of Climate Change, presented the state's views on the use of renewable energy and answered the commissioners' questions on the impacts of wind farms, the role of local authorities in the special planning procedure, and the potential benefits of wind farms for the municipality.

Ivika Maavere, Head of the Planning Approval Department of the Land and Spatial Planning Department of the Land and Spatial Planning Administration, explained the process of the special plan and the principles of the strategic environmental assessment. At the end of the meeting, it was agreed that similar meetings should continue in the future to ensure a better understanding of the wind farm planning process and its potential impacts.
