Mixed Choir Joy

The main purpose of the choir is to promote Estonian choral singing and to preserve the tradition of choral singing. The main output of the choir's activities is performances at events and song festivals in Valga municipality and county, as well as organising various events and concerts.

Non-profit organisation Valga Chamber Choir

The collective is a community of choral music lovers who value the magic of choral singing above all else. We give preference to singers who have studied at music school, as the choir's repertoire includes many challenging compositions and this makes it easier to learn the songs. As the choir is a small ensemble, it is best suited to early classical works.

Ensemble "ENELAS"

The aim of the ensemble is the cultivation of vocal music, and it operates as a mixed ensemble. The repertoire includes classical music, arrangements of folk songs and pop music. The mixed ensemble Spiréa operates as a non-profit organisation.

Non-profit organisation Oduvantšiki Ensemble

The ensemble not only performs Russian folk songs and dances, but also introduces the cultures of other nations. The ensemble is multi-ethnic and performs in various formations: singing in a female ensemble, as a soloist and as a duet, and performing and dancing in a dance group. The spirited events organised by the collective always attract large numbers of participants. Currently the collective has 18 members, rehearsals take place twice a week at Kungla tn. 15

Activities for older people aim to bring them out of their homes, to offer them opportunities to socialise and to engage in activities tailored to their interests and inclinations. Free
time for activities through a singing group. At the 2013 County Ensembles Day, the singing group was considered worthy of a gold microphone in the senior ensembles category.

The activities of the Ukrainian Society include the development and support of the Ukrainian community, the preservation and promotion of Ukrainian culture, and the organisation of various fundraising and charity events and joint activities to strengthen community unity. Special attention is given to work with children and young people: the Society runs a Saturday school where children learn Ukrainian language and literature, Ukrainian history and culture, as well as crafts. A children's and youth folklore ensemble has also been created, whose repertoire includes Ukrainian folk and contemporary songs, bringing the younger generation closer to the traditions of the nation. The organisation also organises charitable and cultural events that support and promote Ukrainian traditions and values.

The aim of a big band is to play instrumental music. Besides the musicians from Valga, the band also includes guest musicians from Tõrva and Tartu. You can listen to jazz as well as classical orchestral pieces.

Non-profit association Pilleriin

NGO Pilleriin unites active and talented people of Valga municipality who are interested in Estonian folk culture, folk dance and the desire to spend meaningful leisure time. Our 30 dancers wear beautiful folk costumes of Hargla parish and perform folkloric Estonian dances and dances of authors. The association consists of both women's and mixed groups who have represented the city and municipality of Valga at local and national dance festivals. The dancers of the Pillerin have also introduced Estonian culture and folk dance at festivals in Italy, Finland, Georgia, Latvia and elsewhere. We are happy that we can decorate the cultural events of Valga municipality with our dances.

The women's folk dance group "Sõsarad" is made up of friendly, cooperative, cheerful and light-hearted women from the city of Valga. Several traditions have developed: summer dance camps, Christmas, celebrations of Volsvik Night. Folklore, modern and original folk dances are performed.

The Memmede folk dance group is a lovely bunch of people who enjoy dancing. No matter that their heads are already grey, they still cherish the joy of dancing. They don't have any obligation to go together, but the fun and joy is such a genuine experience that you have to be there to understand it.

The Mixed Folk Dance group is in a constant state of flux, with only 5 people dancing since the beginning. The group has participated in county dance festivals as well as national ones. The group has also represented Valga outside Estonia. "Rukkilill" has also developed its own traditions: celebrating New Year's Eve, Christmas and birthdays, and organising summer excursions. "Rukkilill" is like a family, sharing both joys and sorrows.

Offering a pleasant leisure and healthy exercise experience through the linedancing the dance. LineThe dance is suitable for all ages, for men and women, and also for children. Song and dance studio since 1995;

Winner of many international and prestigious song and dance competitions and festivals in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Georgia, Russia, Belarus, Spain, Finland, Sweden, USA over 29 years.

The NGO Studio JOY has been an integration centre for the multicultural society of South Estonia for over 29 years.

JOY's participation in various social projects aimed at improving the living conditions of local residents, including a cultural programme for children and young people, is a testimony to its high social responsibility.

OBJECTIVE:

  • Work on the process - a supportive, developmental, creative process that delights both children and their parents.
  • Creating new and exciting activities for young people, providing modern and high-quality dance and singing education and allowing them to spend their free time in a meaningful and safe way.

MISSION:

  • The mission of Studio JOY is to develop children and young people as future competent cultural creators and consumers, and thereby contribute to a creative, friendly and evolving society - our best future in Estonia and Europe.

Introduces and promotes oriental dance as a dance genre. Organises brilliant events, performances in the city of Valga, Valga county and elsewhere in Estonia. Dance supports healthy lifestyle through physical training and develops grace, plasticity, sense of rhythm, coordinated movement. Suitable for all ages, women and children, but also for men. There are dances in different levels of difficulty and in different styles. As there is no need for a partner in oriental dance, it can also be danced by people who otherwise cannot do it due to lack of a partner.

Supported by the Estonian Symphony Orchestra Association, the Livonian Youth Orchestra's broader aim is to enrich the cultural life of South Estonia and the North Latvian region. Participation in the orchestra gives students of orchestral instruments from the region's music schools the opportunity to gain experience and practice in a symphony orchestra, and creates the conditions for future professional musicians. Organising historical events, introducing traditional culture through workshops and events.

The Society helps the Valga Museum to collect, preserve, exhibit and study cultural heritage and artefacts related to practical activities. The Society cooperates with the Genealogy Society of the Valga Museum in researching, presenting and preserving the heritage of persons influential in the history and cultural life of the city.
