In 2025, Valga Municipality allocated operating grants to non-profit organisations active in the social field as follows:
Non-profit organisation Valgamaa Association of Families with Children 2800 euros;
Valga City Pensioners' Association 3400 euros;
Valgamaa Chamber of Disabled People 4100 euros;
Non-profit organisation Valga Abikeskus EUR 4100;
Valga Ukrainian Society „Kalyna” 3240 euros.
In accordance with the procedure for granting social welfare assistance in Valga municipality, the municipality also grants operating subsidies to non-profit organisations providing social services and representing target groups in the social field.
The aim of the operating grant is to support the activities of non-profit-making organisations providing social services or representing target groups in the social field, with a view to ensuring their sustainability or supporting the development activities they undertake. The provision of social services or representation of target groups and activities in the public interest must be an activity which is included in the statutes of the non-profit-making organisation.
An operating grant is foreseen for:
the part of the management and staff costs of the buildings occupied by the non-profit-making organisation which is not financed from other sources;
organise events and campaigns;
other expenditure accepted by the social committee.
A non-profit-making non-profit organisation applying for operating grants must:
1) have its registered office in the municipality of Valga, and
2) provide social services to the residents of Valga municipality or represent the interests of socially vulnerable target groups of Valga municipality, which are set as objectives in national or local strategic documents.
Applications for operating grants must be submitted to the municipality, together with the budget and justification of the need for the grant. By 1 December. The grant will be awarded for the following financial year. The decision will be taken by the municipality, on a proposal from the Social Affairs Committee, at the latest one month after the adoption of the municipal budget.
