Valga Municipality submitted an application for support to the State Support Services Centre for the measure „Improving access to education and training services” with the aim of creating better opportunities for implementing the principles of inclusive education in educational institutions. Inputs to the application were provided by Lüllemäe Basic School, Hargla School, Tsirguliina School, Valga Basic School and Valga Music School.
A positive decision was taken by the donor on the project application submitted by the municipality and the project has now been implemented and the final report is being prepared.
Examples of project-related works and acquisitions that have created a better school environment:
- Accessibility improved in four schools in the municipality. A wheelchair lift was installed at Lüllemäe primary school and a ramp was built to access the canteen. At Hargla school, an entrance and door automation system was installed, the use of the canteen was made accessible and an elevator was installed to access the second floor. In Tsirguliina school, door automation was installed. In the Valga basic school, an elevator was reconstructed.
- Improving accessibility and upgrading classrooms will improve the quality and relevance of the education service provided in the municipality, based on the needs of the pupils.
- Learning materials and furniture were purchased for Valga basic school. An interactive whiteboard was purchased for the Valga Music School. Furniture was purchased for the small classroom and special class at Lüllemäe primary school. An interactive whiteboard and tablet computers were purchased for Tsirguliina school.
- The new teaching equipment and furnishings will improve the learning environment, diversify learning opportunities, help students to concentrate better and allow for personalised lessons.
The project will be supported by European Cohesion Policy funds.

Total support: EUR 118 051,00
(including a contribution from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of € 97 218,47 and a national contribution of € 20 832,53).
